Being in the recording studio is one of my favourite things. In fact it goes beyond that; if you you are or have been a singer / songwriter then to a large extent you always will be a singer/songwriter. So it’s funny that the recording process always has a habit of calling me back because songs always call me back.

Yesterday was extra special because not only was I in the recording studio completing this new song ‘Get Back Up Again’ but my very good friend, Marcus Fellowes came in to the studio with my producer, John Hamilton and I. Marcus was one of the key people to help -and to a large extent – broaden my jazz music education when I was singing on the jazz circuit in London 12 years or so ago. It was really exciting as he’s now got some new material that he’s thinking of recording and I hope he does – as there’s nothing like recording your own material.

Anyway I hope you enjoy the track Get Back Up Again that you can hear in the video above. I’ll post a blog about that song itself quite soon. So a big thanks to John Hamilton of EQ Studios and to Marcus.

Thunder, lightning, pouring down with rain
A distant light and voice they call my name
My final words a rushing round my head
I’m falling, falling, falling, falling…..

Tears have fell, it’s pouring down with rain
I felt so cold and low like I was dead
And then I heard a voice inside that said
‘Get back up and live your life again
Get back up and get back in the race’

No more running from you
No more life-long issues
Life’s a dream that’s come true…. yeah

Oh the whole the whole world is right here
Love will guide and energise me
All combined makes wholly
Love’s will hold and show me
Everything is here in my hands…

Tears have fell, it’s pouring down with rain
I felt so cold and low like I was dead
And then I heard a voice inside that said
‘Gotta get back up and live your life again
Gotta get back up and get back in the race’

Gotta Get back up and get back in the race
Gotta get back up and live my life again

Thunder, lightening; pouring down with rain
A distant light and voice the call my name
My final words are rushing round my head
I’m falling, falling, falling, falling
